I don’t want to have a fuckton of inquiries on my credit report because I have been checking it for cheap through USAA and I can provide my report to anyone without them causing me to have another inquiry on my report. I jacked up my credit before I enlisted in the Army and have since got my act together financially. I would like to improve my credit greatly. I have been in the Army for almost 2 years and am married and want to have a child soon and would like to give them a much better life. I have no problem paying money to get stuff removed. credit repair companies don’t do anything that you can’t do for yourself.

Go to your CO and ask him/her for help, the military has services and agencies that are specifically for getting their people on the right track. My husband got out of the service some years ago, and he was in the Air Force, so I don’t know which name to tell you. But your CO should know.

I have been trying really hard to improve my credit. I payed everything off but I have negative payments in the past. I’m looking to hire a legitamite company for help. I managed to get a secured card and a credit card with terrible fee’s and low credit but my score acually went down 5 points even after 6 months of good payments and I just dont get it. I want help. The three credit burues dont even have the same info on me and i dont even understand the terms they use. One says i have like 5 deliquent accounts and the other 2 but i dont even owe any money or know what deliquent means. I really need help from a legitamate company if anyone knows one. THANK YOU!

I am currently overseas and would like to fix my credit as soon as possible, but definitely do not have the time or the resources to contact my creditors. The internet is the only means possible right now and I would like to know if there is any services out that that stand out above the rest.

Some people seem to be confusing credit repair with credit counseling. They are very different things. With a credit repair company like ovation law they will try to improve your credit by asking for the verification of negative information on your credit report. Many times the information is not verified and it will be removed hence improving your score. It does work for the most part but that depends on how many derogatory items you have on your report and how old they are. You can also do this yourself but like most services that you can do the professionals usually get better results.

Credit counseling is used when you have too much debt to make the payments and you need help restructuring the debt to avoid further financial trouble. Lenders see this as being incapable of managing and while it is technically not supposed to hurt your score it is listed on your report and lenders see it.

Anyone that does make you pay up front, without a consultation, or does not suggest how you could clean up your report yourself is probably not a good source to use. Start with getting your credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com, you can mail off for all three copies using one form. It takes about 10 days if you have not received a report within the last 12 months. Start with the smallest report and go from there, get dispute letters on line for free and fill in the blanks. It could take up to 6 months to really breakthrough on your credit report, be persistent, send all letters certified mail and make sure the credit bureaus help you out.

While im making offers and removing things myself i felt paying a credit repair service $250 wasnt bad to help me due to the fact im in school again and working two jobs i really dont have time to follow up on everything. Don’t pay someone for something that you can do yourself (unless you got money to burn.) You can contact the companies yourself and have it cleared up, set aside an hour or two over the weekend, see what it is that needs to be taken care of. if there are mistakes, get supporting info and send it to the reporting agency so they can update their records (I have done this myself once) – if you owe money to someone, arrange for payments and have them take the blemish off your records, or once you pay it off, send proof to the reporting agency and have them remove it.
