Should I dispute a derogatory acct. using the credit bureau’s online dispute method?
Posted by: | CommentsI have been reading a lot about credit repair methods and have decided to dispute some of the items on my account that may or may not be erroneous. I have read a lot about mailing a certified letter to one of the three bureaus and at that point they get 30 days to respond. However, I have also seen on the bureaus’ websites that I can dispute items online. Does this follow the same 30 day policy? Does either way provide more or less of a chance for a successful removal? Your input is appreciated!
Absolutely, 1000% do it via certified, return receipt mail. This is the only way you have proof of your dispute and the day it was recieved. It is also best to not do it using a credit report from the annualcreditreport site. These allow them 45 days to complete the investigation. You don’t want this.
If you do it via mail and the item is deleted and then (after the 30 days) the item is put back on, you simply have to just send your proof that they had the dispute longer than 30 days and they will put it back on. You can’t ‘prove’ anything via online or a phone call.. not in the way they consider it proof.
Stick with mail only. If you go to http://www.comebackcredit.com, there is a post about the credit dispute process. It talks about the entire process and best way to do it. I’m not sure of the exact name of the post but it should be pretty recent.

How to repair my credit?
Posted by: | CommentsOk I am 23. I am a first year grad student and I also have a full time job. I am trying to be responsible and plan for my future. I have a low credit score because of stupid stuff and now I am trying to build my credit and show that I am responsible. I have 3 hospital bills on my credit report which I just paid all three of them off, I have a utility bill that I paid off, and I have a old phone bill that I am in the process of paying off. I wont to get a credit card to help show that I can pay bills online but I am not sure who I should go through since my credit isn’t the best. any suggestions. Thanks in advance
You should have negotiated a pay for delete for those medical and utility bills. You pay $x and they remove the item from your credit file. This would have helped your credit score. As it stands, those derogatory items should show paid but will remain on your credit file for the balance of the 7 year reporting period. Of course, paid old debt looks better to creditors than unpaid.
You may have to get a secured credit card — you pay a deposit which is held as collateral for the line of credit. Use the credit card and pay it in full every month. After a year, you can probably convert it to a regular credit card account.
It’s going to take at least 24 months of consistent, on-time payment history to even begin to improve your score.

How can I get my money back?
Posted by: | CommentsI met this guy in credit repair business from the same office building, and he told me he could actually boost my credit up in 90 days. So I signed up with him & paid him a fee of $ 2000 for his service, after that I started to monitor my credit online on a daily basis.
It’s been 90 days, & nothing’s happend. He happens to be the middle guy between consumer & the actual company that does the credit boost. I noticed later on that he closed his office, his website gone, and so I started thinking that his business was a scam. I can still contact him over the phone, he still tells me that he’s trying to work it, but I’m pretty sure if I tell him to pay back I doubt he’ll ever giveme back the money. How can I make him pay? It also sucks that he’s got my information too!
Yep it does suck! He scammed you, there is no easy fix when it comes to repairing credit! You can take him to small claims court but you’ll probably never see a dime and you will end up paying filing fees. You can file a police report in your state he may have violated a law. Good luck
What is a good credit score to have when applying for a loan?
Posted by: | CommentsI just finished ordering my TransUnion credit report and score online from transunion.com. It says my current credit score is 757. Is that considered good? The reason I ask is because I was thinking about going to my local bank next week to apply for a $1,500 loan to get some much needed car repairs. I have plenty of avaliable credit on my credit card but would prefer to get a loan so that I might be able to get a lower interest rate. I always try to pay my bills on time and really need this loan. What are my chances of getting approved with a 757 credit score? Should I even bother applying or will I be wasting my time?
You have a good score. I would say apply for the loan, and transfer the balances to a credit card offering a (0% apr) — citibank offers 0% introductory apr’s for 1 year — with no transaction charges.
Another thing to remember is that its not just enough to have a good score. lenders also look at what your largest loan was — A history of taking and repaying large loans helps improve your credit also. I was rejected by Honda car financing when I applied for a $13,000 loan eventhough My score was 750+. They said that my largest loan was $2000, so they didnt think I was a good risk becasue I did not have any history with larger loans.

Free Credit Repair! Is it possible?
Posted by: | CommentsI found this website online http://www.peakingcredit.com I decided to copy and past it into this box. The website seems to give you everything you need to repair your credit for free right on the website. The website looks legit, and they don’t ask for too much they don’t even ask for your name. I was just wondering if their methods work or am I just wasting my time.
That site you posted a link to has alot of incorrect information….like this.
"If you have an account in collections that you still owe money on, that account cannot be removed from your credit report unless the debt is settled"
That line is completely inaccurate and I’ve helped quite a few people who will attest to that.
I suggest you check out some of the links I have in my profile, they are all completely free and for information purposes (NOT SPAM) and are accurate. And yes, you can repair your credit yourself and the only cost will be your time and postage.
